Hello Teachers!
It’s that time of the year again when we prepare for the upcoming school year. In this week’s blog, I will provide you with some information and a template to send to your students to help ease the transition. We have made the log-in process as simple as possible so that students as young as learning-to-read age can log on themselves.
Logging on to Musicology as a student is very simple. Here is a template you can use for your initial email to parents before switching over to the platform:
Dear (Parent),
I am very excited to share with you the new platform we will be using this year for (your student’s) online piano lessons. It’s called Musicology and it’s an interactive video conferencing platform built specifically for music lessons (this means high quality audio/video that doesn’t cut out.) There are a ton of teaching tools included that I know (your student) will love and that really enhance the online learning experience.
Here is a link to their website for your information: www.musicology.ca
At our next scheduled lesson, please follow these directions. They are the same for each lesson.
If you are on an iPad or iPhone:
- Make sure your device is updated to at least iOS14
- Download Musicology Online from the App Store (there is no fee!)
- Press I’m a Student
- Enter code ___________
If you are on any other device (Windows, Apple, Android/laptop, phone, desktop, tablet):
- Using the Chrome web browser, visit https://app.musicology.ca
- Click I’m a Student
- Enter code ____________
Looking forward to seeing you next time!
Your teacher
We are set to be fully out of Early Access very soon now.
Thank you to all of our early adopters for your very valuable feedback to help make this the best teaching platform available worldwide. We couldn’t have done it without you and we look forward to future enhancements.
Happy teaching!
Rebecca

Perfect timing for this ‘note to parents’.
Thanks so much!
You’re very welcome, Maggie!
Hi, Rebecca,
Is there a waiting room type of option? My students are all scheduled back-to-back and will often log in a few minutes early.
Can I be finishing up with one student while the next is waiting in their room?
Is there a sound notification when someone enters their room?
Thank you
Hi Dana! Yes, when a student is waiting for you it will say “waiting for teacher” on their end with a spinning rainbow. Then when it’s time for their lesson you simply click on their student room to connect. There is not a sound notification at the moment but it’s on the list for the near future!
Hi,
How do I find the teacher’s homework notes she wrote for me
Hello Susan, you can find files that your teacher has uploaded by signing in with your student code, clicking on the whiteboard and then the three dot icon.
